William Kingshott

William Kingshott was born at Lurgashall, Sussex, in 1823. He was the seventh child of William & Ann (nee Parnell) Kingshott. He came from pioneering stock, as his two older brothers, George & James Kingshott, went out to Canada to make their fortunes. His younger brother Stephen Kingshott also went out to Australia.

William arrived in Australia on 29th April 1844, on board the vessel "Elizabeth". He seemed to have moved around between New South Wales and Victoria before meeting Margaret Roberts, another immigrant, this time from Camborne, Cornwall, England. They married at Mundoonan, New South Wales on 12th May 1856.

William & Margaret settled in the state of Victoria and had no less than nine children between 1856 and 1876. The family group sheet can be seen here. Of these children, the Kingshott name survived in only two males, William James Kingshott, born 1871 in Cobden, Victoria and his brother Edwin Kingshott, born two years later. I do not have any information on their families, or descendants, so if you can assist here, please let me know.

William Kingshott was my 4th cousin four times removed.
