John Brian Kinshott

John Brian Kinshott (eerily close to my own name, Jan Brian Kingshott) was an Aircraftman 2nd Class in 205 Squadron, Royal Air Force. His service number is 4002537.

RAF Airman's Cap Badge

John, born about 1929, was the son of Alfred Dennis & Florence May Kinshott of Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex. This branch of the family, like that of Henry William Kinshott (see above), hailed from East Meon, Hampshire. Indeed, John was Henry's first cousin twice removed.

Whilst serving with the RAF in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) John died on 16th August 1947. I do not know the circumstances of his death, and I note that it occurred 2 years after the end of the Second World War, but he is recorded with the Commonwealth War Graves, and commemorated at Liveramentu Cemetery, Columbo, Sri Lanka.

John was my 8th cousin.
