Alfred Edmund Kingshott was a Private with the 1st/4th Battalion (Territorials), the Northumberland Fusiliers. His service number was 203318.
Alfred was born around 1884 in Mile End, London. He was the second son of Albert Kingshott and his wife Annie nee Parfect. At the time of the 1901 census Alfred was employed as an Account Book Letterer and was living at 28 Palm Street, Bethnal Green, London.
In 1909 Alfred married Emma Mary Estall and had four children: Alfred Martin Kingshott, William George Kingshott, Lily Kingshott and Emma Mary Kingshott. During the Great War the family lived at 33 Usk Street, Bethnal Green, London.
Unfortunately, Alfred's service record does not survive so details of his military service are not known.
Alfred was killed in action on 26th October 1917 at the age of 32. His body was never found and lies beneath the mud of Flanders. He is commemorated at Tyne Cot Cemetery in Belgium. His medal index card records that he is "presumed dead".
